At Atlantis Academy, the student as an individual is the primary concern. Personalization in curriculum, academic expectations, and socialization is the foundation of our program. Biographies
Ilyssa Hershey
Director
Dr. Hershey has a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology and an M.A. in Psychology from Yeshiva University-Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Bronx, New York; and a B.A. in Psychology at Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York. She began her career working as a school psychologist, then became director of Mental Health for Westchester County Jail in Valhalla, NY, then Director of Behavioral Health in Broward County Jails, Fort Lauderdale. Before coming to Atlantis in 2005 she worked as Manager, Early Intervention Clinical Services at North Broward Hospital District-Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center, Fort Lauderdale.
Donna Bussiere
Assistant Director
Ms. Bussiere has a B.S. in Education from Bridgewater State College in Bridgewate, MA along with a Minor in Health and concentrations in physical education, history, reading and psychology. After graduation Ms. Bussiere was a buyer with a major company and eventually became a Director of a Bio-Technology company in Florida. She was a TQM (Total Quality Management) Facilitator with both companies and Ms. Bussiere taught classes on diversity, health, safety and management as well as tutoring throughout the years. For two years after that she held various teaching and curriculum coordinator positions at Vista School. She then moved on to Sawgrass Springs Middle School where she was the boys soccer coach. She also coached travel soccer teams with the Coral Springs Storm, and the Coral Springs Recreation Soccer Club. For the past three years Ms. Bussiere has been Curriculum Coordinator and Lead Teacher at Atlantis Coral Springs and is now Assistant Director. She has also coached the volleyball team, flag football, co-ed soccer, boy’s basketball and co-ed Tennis for the last two years.
