The Director of Decision Support has responsibility for the following areas

*& annual capital and operating budget process,
*& flexible budget reporting,
*& productivity reporting,
*& clinical cost accounting and product line profitability reporting,
*& clinical quality benchmarking,
*& Medicare Cost reported and AHCA reporting

Directs all aspects of the Decision Support Department with an emphasis on superior customer service for both internal and external customers, high quality of work product measured in terms of timeliness and accuracy, staff development and fiscal responsibility. The Director will supervise a staff that includes Financial Analysts and Senior Financial Analysts.


Working closely with the Controller, leads the Hospital's annual budget process Manages the implementation and maintenance of the Hospital's various decision support systems including clinical cost accounting, benchmarking, budgeting, productivity and quality measurement computer applications Coordinates the preparation of various financial and operational management reports and analyses for use by management Assumes overall responsibility for timeliness and accuracy of data prepared and distributed by the Decision Support Department Directs preparation of annual Medicare cost reports and AHCA reporting.

Skills / Requirements

Ability to interact effectively in an advisory role with other hospital employees of all levels. Ability to analyze complex financial information and processes and present to different levels of the organization in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting. Masters degree or equivalent (MBA or MHA preferred); at least 10 years related finance or decision support experience. Experience should also include at least five years of supervisory/management experience.

Computer Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint Proficiency with Trendstar Clinical Cost Accounting or willingness and ability to learn Proficiency with Kaufman Hall Budget Advisor or willingness and ability to learn Highly computer-literate and data-oriented in general with the ability to learn new systems and implement new systems with minimal Information Systems support
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and other Credentials:
None required, but a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and HFMA certification is preferred


*Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites.

*The person in this position may be asked to work in a smoke-free location, and is expected to adhere to all smoking restrictions.
