Financial Aid Officer - Military Program
Kaplan Division: Kaplan University City: Boca Raton State/Province: Florida Position Type Full Time Job Level: Some Experience Job Description Purpose of the Job/Principal Responsibilities: Military Financial Aid Officers assist Kaplan University students in all aspects of the financial aid process, including reviewing military benefits and help ensure that the school receives military and financial aid funds in a timely fashion. Typical activities for a Military Financial Aid Officer include: *Answer questions and provides support to assigned military students via email, telephone, and various other communications methods *Assist students in all aspects of the military and financial aid process by delivering accurate, up-to-date information in a calm, polite, professional demeanor *Follow up with Prospective and Continuing Students via e-mail, telephone, and various other communication methods *Assist students with determining their military eligibility, reviewing necessary paperwork and steps to securing military funding. *Attend required training sessions *Follow all Standard Operating Procedures *Meet assigned productivity goals *Various other duties as assigned by Senior Financial Aid Officers, Assistant Directors, the Director, or the Vice President in charge of Financial Aid A Military Financial Aid Officer's breakdown of activities includes but is not limited to: 40%determining military benefits for prospective students 40%certifying military veteran benefits 10%document collection 10%reviewing financial aid eligibility with students Experience Required: *Preferred prior military experience *Experience as a Financial Aid Officer at another institution or extensive, successful experience in a full-time role in the Kaplan University Financial Aid Department, with experience in Financial Aid Process. *Bachelor's Degree preferred; Associate's Degree required OR must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's Degree program. *Minimum years Financial Aid experience *Strong Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills. *Strong Customer Service Experience. Position Requirements /Scope of the Job/ Skills Required: *Must be able to work some evening and weekend shifts *Ability to answer complicated student financial aid questions accurately and in detail *Ability to deliver outstanding customer service by telephone, e-mail, and other media *Ability to follow processes, work effectively on a team, and maintain a positive attitude *Excellent Communication skills, both written and oral. Measurement of Success: Financial Aid Officers will be evaluated based on (a) ability to meet accuracy and productivity goals; (b) ability to deliver outstanding customer service; (c) ability to work effectively on a team, both within and across Kaplan University departments; and (d) attitude and enthusiasm.
