Job Description
Purpose of the Job/Principal Responsibilities:
Financial Aid Assistant will assist with the day-to-day document collection operations within the Financial Aid Department.

Typical activities for a Financial Aid Assistant include:
*Run, Reconcile and update data from reports to data in internal and external systems
*Maintain telephone coverage during assigned hours, including answering inbound calls from students and internal customers and making outbound calls for various campaigns
*Update Student Data into internal systems when required
*Clear blocked students by verifying information submitted to the financial aid office
*Assist the admissions team in document collection and updating students financial aid files
*Acquire student data and reports from external systems for document verification, updating and review
*Follow up with Prospective and Continuing Students via e-mail, telephone, chat, and various other communication methods
*Contact the students assigned FAO to provide a status update informing the FAO that documents have been received to assist with batching
*Understand and answer general questions about the FAFSA and other Financial Aid processes
*Assist with printing, copy, filing, mailing, categorizing, opening and distributing mail, and other routine and occasional activities
*Attend required training sessions
*Follow all Standard Operating Procedures
*Meet assigned productivity goals
*Various other duties as assigned by the Manager, Assistant Directors, the Director, or the Vice President in charge of Financial Aid

A Financial Aid Assistant's breakdown of activities varies based on daily work production and business needs at the discretion of Financial Aid Management.
Experience Required:
*1 to 2 years experience in a call center environment, preferably Customer Service
Position Requirements /Scope of the Job/ Skills Required:
*Must be able to work some evening and weekend shifts
*Ability to communicate accurately and positively by telephone, e-mail, and other media to students and internal customers, including other Kaplan University and KHE departments
*Ability to follow processes, work effectively on a team, and maintain a positive attitude
*Must have extensive experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access)
*Prior experience with organizing office functions a must
Measurement of Success:
The Financial Aid Assistant will be evaluated based on (a) their ability to learn required and updated processes and follow them correctly and productively; (b) their ability to work effectively on a team, both within and across Kaplan University departments; and (c) their attitude and enthusiasm.
