Job Description
Purpose of the Job/Principal Responsibilities:
The KU Director of Financial Aid &- Default Prevention manages all day-to-day activities of the Kaplan University Loan Counseling Services team, ensuring all out-of-school students receive adequate contact attempts and loan counseling regarding their federal student loans.

Typical activities for a FA Manager include:
*Manage all day-to-day activities of Kaplan University Loan Counseling Services team.
*Provide management team with the expertise and knowledge to complete assigned tasks and meet department goals.
*Responsible for team's interviewing and hiring decisions.
*Monitor team members' performance and provide routine reports to Vice President.
*Assist Vice President in setting and managing budget.
*Coach and motivate managers and staff to improve and maximize KPI's.
*Communicates, interprets and ensures compliance with Financial Aid policies, procedures and goals.
*Provide monthly feedback sessions with managers, analyzing results and opportunities.
*Responsible for reviewing, and when necessary administering, their assigned team's corrective action.
*Write and administer assigned manager's performance evaluations.
*Act in compliance with Federal and Institutional regulations.
*Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned by Vice President of Financial Aid.

*Supervising, analyzing and reporting on department performance 65%
*Planning, budgeting and organizing Loan Counseling Services team 30%
*Other related duties as assigned 5%

Experience Required:

*Bachelor Degree required.
*Five or more years managing Financial Aid, including loan counseling and default prevention activities OR
*Three years or more years of experience as an Associate Director of Financial Aid at Kaplan University, and achieved a minimum of Ruby on their last Compensation Plan review.
*Extensive working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Windows and Outlook.
*Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

*Expert knowledge of Title IV regulations and all aspects of financial aid.

*Flexible with any schedule between Sunday-Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. -12:00 a.m. Eastern.
*FA Directors must be flexible to work additional hours during evening and weekend shifts, as business needs dictate.
