Profile: Miami Dade County

Miami-Dade County government provides countywide services to 2.25 million residents, and city services to the 1.2 million people who reside in the unincorporated areas of the County. The County employs more than 30,000 full and part time workers.

County responsibilities span a large number of business lines, including significant international airport, seaport and local transit operations, as well as the more traditional county functions including elections, assessment and taxation, corrections, courts, public health, and building regulation. The size of the County operations is not only broad in scope, but also is large in comparison to most cities and counties in the country.
