Blog Post: Wow, actually asking for a JOB and proving what you can do!
posted Tuesday, June 9, 2009 12:59 AM
I wanted to share something I witnessed while waiting to pick up my drycleaning...
A women walked into the drycleaners and said to the cashier, "I want to be a presser", the cashier looked at her and said "what?", again she replied, "I want to be a presser"...turned out the owner was right there and over heard what she said. He said "Do you have experience?", she said "yes"..."ok, come with me, and show me what you can do!", the owner said...off they went into the back and I watched while she started to press a shirt. I was so excited because... 1. She got the job! and 2. I wanted to share with you that you should always be on your toes. Be prepared to ask for the job (or at least tell someone what type of position you are looking for....be specific) and at the same time be able to show what you have to bring to the table...why you are of value. This is just a small example of why you need to get out of the house and look for a job, as well, as use all of the many other resources...jobing.com, networking, community involvement and more.... So whether you are a presser or CEO...GET NOTICED!!! P.S. Don't forget your resume!
